
Between 1964 and 1969 Odell Brown & the Organ-izers recorded several "hits"
for Chess Records on their "Cadet" label . . . In 1966 the Organ-izers won the
prestigious "Billboard Magazine Award" for best new group.
The success was not anticipated because it wasn't our primary goal as half of the
group were school teachers and the other half experimental jazz enthusiast who
just enjoyed playing together.
